A
sprinkler system is a great convenience and can help you get the thick,
green lawn you have always wanted. But did you know that it can also save
you money by conserving water? Properly designed, a sprinkler
system will water efficiently, delivering the correct amount of water
to each planting area in your yard when it is needed. Designing the layout
of your sprinkler system – consisting of a timer, sprinkler heads,
valves and pipe – is a challenging project and every yard is different.

At Lanes we
install both commercial and residential irrigation systems. In addition
to residential homes we also install and service commercial systems
like strip malls, commercial warehouses, hospitals and office buildings.
a well-designed irrigation system deserves nothing less than the
best quality irrigation parts. Lanes only use parts from the best
manufacturers in the business. Lanes uses spray, rotary and drip
sprinkler systems. Below are some examples of the equipment we use.
Spray
Sprinkler Systems
Spray
Heads: More properly called "fixed
spray heads", these are the small heads that spray a fan-shaped
pattern of water. Think of a shower nozzle. Most use interchangeable
nozzles installed on the sprinkler which determine the pattern (1/2
circle, full circle, etc.) and the radius of the water throw. Some
specialty patterns are available for long, narrow areas. Spray heads
are spaced up to 18 feet apart. They need between 20 and 30 PSI of
water pressure to operate properly.
Spray sprinkler systems
are used in smaller, more confined ares. Hunter's Pro-Spray has been
manufactured with the precision required to ensure reliable operation
and peak performance for years to come. This solid performer boasts
heavy-duty ABS construction, including an extra-thick body and cap.
Exclusive body ribs make it easier to install, adjust and service
while also providing more stability for the sprinkler in loose soils.
Heavy-duty body and cap construction
- Multi-thread buttress design withstands the harshest environments
Pressure activated, multi-function, no flow-by wiper seal
- Easy to remove and clean; treated with UV inhibitors to ensure long life
Compatible with All Female Threaded Nozzles
- Accepts adjustable, fixed and specialty nozzles from Hunter and all major brands
Optional factory-installed drain check valve for up to 7 feet elevation change
- Eliminates landscape damage from flooding and erosion
Ratcheting riser for quick arc alignment
- Make adjustments while sprinkler is operating
Heavy-duty spring
- For positive retraction under any conditions
Innovative pop-top flush plug design
- Allows limited flow permitting controlled directional flushing
1/2" standard side inlet on 6" and 12" models
- Installation convenience for deep seated bodies
Rotary
Sprinkler Systems
Rotors:
Rotor is the term used to describe the various sprinklers which operate
by rotating streams of water back and forth over the landscape. The
example which most people are familiar with is the "impact"
rotor sprinkler (often improperly called a "rainbird") which
moves back and forth firing bursts of water. You probably know this
sprinkler best for the distinct sound it makes when operating-- tooka,
tooka, tooka, tic, tic, tic, tic, tic, tooka, tooka, tooka, etc. The
impact rotors are rapidly being replaced now by gear driven rotors
which are very quiet, lower maintenance, and much smaller in size.
These gear drive rotors have one or more fingers of water which move
silently across the landscape. Rotors can be spaced from 18 feet to
55 feet apart.
Integral rubber cover
- Stays put to keep play areas safe
Choice of 22 different nozzles
- Allows sprinkler to be custom fitted to all spacing's from 18' to 47'
FloStop® Control
- Allows stoppage of flow through an individual head while remainder of system is running
Easy arc adjustment (40° – 360°)
- Right at the top of the sprinkler
Continuously improved, water-lubricated gear drive
- Backed by over a decade of proven reliability
Extra-strong spring
- Reliable retraction every time
Drain check valve for up to 10 feet elevation change
- Saves water, reduces liability
Optional Stainless Steel Riser
- Added strength for the harshest conditions
Drip
systems: Drip systems (sometimes
called trickle irrigation) have become
popular for irrigating non-turf areas. Drip irrigation is the
process of applying the right amount of water slowly and evenly
to the root zones of plants. This keeps the level of moisture
in the soil within the optimum range for healthy growth and
minimum stress. The high
efficiency results from two primary factors. The first is that
the water soaks into the soil before it can evaporate or run
off, the second is that the water is only applied where it is
needed rather than sprayed everywhere.
Drip irrigation conserves water and is often used in xeriscape
landscapes. A drip system usually consists of a special tube
or hose with holes or emitters along it. These emitters may
be spaced with a fixed distance to cover uniform, closely spaced
beds, or randomly to only water certain plants.
Drip irrigation
can save time and money when installed properly. It applies
water directly to the soil, eliminating over-spray onto roads
and driveways. The output of drip systems can vary significantly,
anywhere from 0.5 to 24 gallons per hour. Timers can be installed
to ensure that watering is done at the right time and in the
desired amount. Enjoy your garden on your terms. Timers make
gardening possible for many people who otherwise wouldn't have
time, or you can take a vacation knowing that your plants will
be well cared for while you're away. You can save more water
with a drip system than with conventional watering. It will
lower your water bill. The payback period for lowered water
bills and the value of your labor is usually one season, or
less. IT'S LIKE GETTING THE SYSTEM
FOR FREE.
Drip irrigation
allows you to pinpoint water placement and adjust delivery rates
to the changing needs of each plant. By pinpointing water to
individual plants, water is unavailable for weeds. The most
tedious part of gardening, weeding, is minimized. A
drip system will save you time wasted on hand watering or weeding.
